#TGIM

#TGIM Thank goodness it’s Monday! I enjoy what I do so I relate more with TGIM versus TGIF. I’m grateful for the shifts and decisions I’ve made over the years that have taken small and big steps away from TGIF to TGIM. It’s been both an attitude and an actual shift in work.

Whether you are TGIM now or not, continue to move towards TGIM because the world will be better with more people that enjoy and excel at what they do :)

Waymaker

Disney’s Moana is a really powerful movie for me. Completely unexpectedly. I watched it with my niece and I loved it as much as her. We both instantly identified with Moana who is a ‘waymaker’.

She beats to her own drum in the most love-filled, ambitious, creative, resourceful, well meaning way. Just like my young niece…and I. One of my identities is a waymaker. I’m not a waymaker all day, everyday. That just wouldn’t be practical - like I don’t need to reinvent the toothbrush that I sue to brush my teeth every morning and night, I don’t need to reinvent the English language that I use everyday to communicate with people and I don’t need to reinvent so many other things that I use throughout the day. I do like to forge my own path everyday, part of the day, in certain areas.

Staying consistent with who we think we are is the strongest force in human nature. Having identities that we lean in to for part of the day enable us to be that part full out which leads to more progress, more joy, more connection, more of ALL the good stuff. The trick becomes to trigger the right identity at the right time in the day.

This year I am making it easier to trigger the identity I need at ANY given MOMENT and I am EXCITED to share what I find that helps so that others can be more of themselves and have more of what they want in work and in life. Here’s to this next year!

Happy new year

New beginnings are exciting. Whether it’s January 1, your birthday, changing seasons or any other date that you use to just reset and refresh, do it!

I’m excited for the future. I’m focused yet open. I’m ambitious yet accepting.

We’re multiple things and what I’ve learned is it can be a matter of leaning into one side of ourselves more. Leaning into one side, like being open does not have to mean giving up the other side like focus. Or leaning into acceptance does not mean giving up ambition. We can find the balance that is right for us of how much we do one side versus another, when we do each side and the way we do it. Here’s to a year of being more ourselves - all sides :)

Unintentional breakthrough

An unintentional breakthrough that I had this past year came early in the year and has stuck with me. The year started with 3 months of a daily ‘energy’ practice (mine = 10 mins of gratitude, love, visualization; 3-4 mins each).

It took falling off the practice in the Spring (during the first wave of Covid) for a month or so to have the breakthrough. We all know the benefits fo meditation and visualization on our energy at both work and personally yet we struggle with consistency. Since then it’s been easier to just do it any given day and most days. And now I KNOW the difference that it makes…each day and day over day.

It took commitment then falling off to have an unintentional breakthrough.

Reflecting on this year, both professionally and personally, there are other unintentional learnings, growth and breakthroughs. I’m looking forward to the next year with all its unintentional learnings, growth and breakthroughs :)
